Dive into an unprecedented artistic experience at the Goldshteyn-Saatort Gallery in Paris! The exhibition “Crossing Lines” invites you to explore the captivating intersection of shibari art and urban painting.

Featuring two New York city legends : the renowned JonOne, celebrated for his dynamic graffiti and vivid colors, alongside the talented Marie Sauvage, a recognized artist in the art of shibari, this collaboration pushes the boundaries of traditional art.

The exhibition showcases a fascinating blend of JonOne’s vibrant paintings and Marie Sauvage’s delicate and expressive creations. The striking contrast between the chaotic energy of JonOne’s works and the graceful precision of Marie Sauvage’s rope art will create an atmosphere brimming with emotion, where tension, freedom, and beauty intertwine.

Marie Sauvage

It was during her studies at the Parsons Paris School of Art & Design that Marie Sauvage developed a fascination for the beauty of the human body.

Shibari, an erotic and aesthetic practice that sculpts and enhances the contours of the body using ropes, became a natural progression in her artistic journey. She began practicing rope art in 2017 after meeting Hajime Kinoko, a master of shibari.

Marie Sauvage is one of the few women to publicly practice shibari, a traditional Japanese art historically dominated by men. Her feminine approach has brought a fresh perspective to this discipline, making it more accessible to a broader audience, particularly women.

JonOne

Born in 1963, JonOne grew up in New York City. Fascinated by the emergence of the first tags on the city’s noisy subway trains, he joined this movement under the name Jon156. In 1984, along with Rac7 and Kyle, he founded the street artist collective “156 All Starz,” which later evolved into an international community.

Seeking to break down barriers between galleries, museums, and street art, JonOne deconstructs artistic boundaries and integrates his art into everyday life through collaborations with prestigious brands. To preserve the raw energy of his work, JonOne draws inspiration from the principles of action painting and abstract expressionism. Like Pollock, he physically immerses himself in his creations: walking on his canvases, splattering them with paint, and layering multiple textures and colors to give his works remarkable depth and dynamism.
