During her studies at the Parsons Paris School of Art & Design, Marie Sauvage developed a fascination with the beauty of the human body. Shibari, an erotic and aesthetic practice that sculpts and enhances the body’s contours using ropes, became a natural progression in her artistic journey. She began practicing rope art in 2017 after meeting Hajime Kinoko, a master of shibari.
Marie Sauvage is one of the few women to practice shibari publicly, a traditional Japanese art historically performed predominantly by men. Her feminine approach has brought a fresh perspective to the practice, making it more accessible to a broader audience, particularly women.
